General Info

Monica’s - Authentic Food sits along Av. Príncipe do Mónaco in Santa Cruz das Flores, Portugal, and it’s the kind of hamburger restaurant that feels easy to settle into from the moment you walk in. The location itself is simple to find, and once inside, the atmosphere immediately gives off the relaxed vibe people usually look for when searching for a dependable spot to grab a good burger. After spending some time here, it becomes clear why Monica’s has become a familiar name in local dining reviews.

What stands out first is how straightforward the menu feels. This is clearly a hamburger restaurant that focuses on doing a few things well rather than trying to overwhelm diners with too many options. The food feels honest and satisfying, the kind of meal you’d expect when a place centers its identity around authentic flavors. Burgers are naturally the highlight, but the experience doesn’t end there. The dessert selection adds a sweet finish to the meal, making it easy to linger a little longer after the main course.

Another detail that adds to the comfort of the place is how accessible it is for different visitors. The restaurant includes a wheelchair accessible entrance, which makes it easier for everyone to enjoy the space without barriers. That kind of thoughtful design often says a lot about how a diner approaches hospitality.

During my visit, the service flow felt smooth and practical. Ordering was simple, and paying at the end was just as convenient. Monica’s accepts debit cards, credit cards, and even NFC mobile payments, so guests don’t need to worry about carrying cash. These small conveniences often make a big difference, especially for travelers exploring Santa Cruz das Flores who just want a relaxed place to eat without extra hassle.

The overall dining experience also benefits from the restaurant’s comfortable rhythm. People drop in for casual meals, friends sit down for burgers and conversation, and visitors passing through the area often discover it by recommendation. When you look through local reviews, the tone tends to reflect that same feeling: it’s a reliable stop for straightforward food in a welcoming setting.

Because Monica’s - Authentic Food keeps things simple, the focus stays where it should be-on good burgers, an approachable menu, and a friendly environment. Add in the convenient payment options, accessible entrance, and a satisfying dessert to round out the meal, and it becomes clear why this hamburger restaurant continues to draw diners looking for an easy, enjoyable place to eat in Santa Cruz das Flores.

What customers say?

“ Absolutely amazing food! The XXL cookie is genuinely the best cookie I've ever had. The only improvement they could make is to be open more often! Would highly recommend. ”

- REBECCA ALLEN -

“ Note: please check Instagram or Facebook for the hours Food was truly authentic and amazing. Business run by husband and wife who love the work they do. Had many items on their menu and my wife and I finished all in less than 10 minutes. Cookie XXL is a must try. The center melts and it's still warm when we ate it. ”

- Chi Tang -

“ Absolute hidden gem. I hesitate to review it for fear of never being able to get a table again! So so so good. Monica’s food is authentic, local, fresh and vibrant. Location cannot be beat. Spacious and quirky interior with little surprises scattered around the decor. You will want to stay all day. Sandwiches, fresh salads, smoothies, milkshakes, and the most fabulous crepes and ice creams. Couldn’t recommend more highly. She basically beams good vibes!!! Just go! ”

- Alex Hennebert -

“ Best food we had on the island! Burger was delicious good quality meat, bread and salad, and the fries were perfect and really good with the garlic mayo dip. The XXL Cookie was honestly the best cookie I've ever eaten. Opening times are very random so you need to follow them on Instagram or Facebook to check when they say they are going to be open. Was busy immediatley on opening so it is clearly popular. Service was good. Some food/drink options may run out if you don't get there early enough. ”

- Antony Smith -

“ Great selection of goodies, fantastic brownies, friendly service and beautiful view of the sea in a quiet area at the end of the town. Saturday is closed. ”

- Lona Cesk -

“ Close to the church, you will find a lot of benches to enjoy your food. Fresh food, we loved crispy chicken sandwich and cup of happiness (dessert). Our captain, who brought us to Corvo by boat this morning, helping his wife, Monica in the food truck. ”

- Zoltán MIHALSZKY -

“ Check the Facebook page each day to see if it's open - if it is you're in luck but get there earlier :) we missed the chicken wings unfortunately but the chilli fries and various cakes and cookies were amazing and they're all lovely and friendly. ”

- Leanne Fok -

“ Great and cosy place at the back of the museum. There is a food track that works on Sunday and a restaurant that works on the weekdays. The food is amazing, great coffee, amazing view, and very nice service. ”
